Of A Poem

My 10 yr old son continues to surprise me. He was published in the school yearbook. Here’s his poem.====Like a tree loses its leaves I sometimes lose my temperLike a rooster I am noisy and get up earlyLike the colours yellow and black at times I am happy and playful and at other times I am hard to understandLike an apple I am hard to get through to but I am good on the insideLike a lightbulb I am sometimes on and open but sometimes off and hard to get through toLike a pebble I am light and small but capable of better thingsLike an off-roader I go off the path and get distractedLike an AK-47 machine gun I talk rapidly 24-7”===I think he knows himself better than many adults manage to do after a lifetime of self-exploration. Kids are amazing.- S
