Of Things You Shouldn't Say on Dates
Those of you who know me, know that I have been given a lot of words to use each day. Oftentimes in the rush to use them up, I tend to say things without really thinking about the consequences.
There have been times, when on a date with someone nice, that I have said things that in hindsight, I really probably should not have said. That being said, there are also times I have said things simply to see what reaction I get. I am a little mischievous after all.So, here is a short list of things I have learned that you should not say on dates. Some I have actually said. Some I have thought about saying and some I’ve never said (nor would I dare!), and some are things I’ve heard that other men have said to their dates. I’ll let you try to guess which is which!1. When observing that you split the bill regularly, saying “we should totally set up a joint account for when we go out”, may cause her to run for the hills.2. When going to a restaurant for the first time together, saying “all my ex’s loved this place” is not advisable.3. Looking at other women when you’re out together and saying “wow, she looks amazing”. Just. NO.4. After gazing into her eyes, it is not good to say “you really do remind me of my mother” or “you really do remind me of my ex”.5. “I’ll introduce you to my kids as their new mum”.6. As you’re about to head out, saying “I thought you said you were going to make yourself pretty” isn’t a great idea.7. After enjoying a fantastic meal, saying to her “Are you sure you should have dessert”?8. In keeping with #7 above, “Are you really going to eat all that”? or “Are you sure you should have another drink”? Shakes my head.9. When it comes time to pay, “I’ve forgotten my wallet” is an absolute no-no.Ah what fun. I have learned to dial back my sense of humour at least until I have gotten to know my date better. Mostly.- S
