Of the Kingsland Festival

Today was my local neighbourhoods street festival. It also happened to coincide with St. Patricks Day which added to the colour and overall joyous festivity around.What is very cool about this festival is that, before the grown-ups go out to play and drink excessively, there is a very child-centric focus in the afternoon: candy floss, Mr Whippy icecream, a bouncy castle, a mini ferris wheel and of course, facepainting.My daughter can’t go past a face-painter without insisting that she gets something beautiful painted.$5 and 5 minutes later, Yolanda from BodyFX had worked her magic. I had a very happy bunny.Then the peer pressure started. Now, as far as I can remember, I’ve never had my face painted. $5 and 5 minutes later...I have to admit, it is a little disconcerting having strangers grin at you in a slightly uncomfortable manner. Especially as the paint has dried, and you have forgotten what you look like...Still, it was very nice to rediscover a little childlikeness for an afternoon. Highly recommended for your soul.- S
