Of New Years Resolutions for 2012

Another time of reflection. I was curious as to how I went with my resolutions from this time last year.Frankly not that great.I do think I lived a little more. I did take a few more risks emotionally, but not physically. I’m way more open, but still guarded in the area of the heart. In 2011, I did explore wine, spirits and cocktails. I did see a few bands but not as many as I should have or would have liked. I have practiced guitar a little, and dusted my bass off a few times. But not enough.I loved, I think, but not as fully as I should have. I don’t think I let love in as I should have.I made mistakes and experienced heartache. I did learn valuable lessons and had some amazing experiences. I have some incredibly good memories.I haven’t yet smoked a cigar. So what do I wish to achieve in 2012?I’ve been thinking about this for a while, so the list won’t be quite so vague as last time.In the physical realm.I will establish a gym routine of presence at least 4 times per week. It will be accompanied by more walking and less driving. The end goal being to reduce body fat by 8-10KG over the course of the year. I will watch less television and fewer DVDs (aaargh - don’t wanna, don't make me!).In the mental realm.I will read more. Topics include business, sales, marketing, strategy. Balanced with philosophy, science, arts, history. Oh, I love knowledge and the acquisition of the same. I will meditate more. The end goal being to become more focussed and a lot sharper. To exercise my brain. I will choose a course of study that I will complete. In the business realm.I will establish a successful enterprise. I will put more active and productive hours in to each day. I will continue to build my networks on a global scale. I will not squander the opportunity I have created. In the emotional realm.I will be more open to take risks and just dive in to explore instead of sitting on the edge over-thinking everything. This one is the scary one for me. I will also put my foot down in a few areas with respect to my Ex. It is time to have a more even arrangement. I will spend more time with my kids and be a better father.Miscellaneous goals?I will travel to another, as yet undecided, country that challenges me. I will spend more time in the South Island. I will learn to cook Japanese food. I will learn to make sauces. I will cater for some dinner parties (a terrifying idea). I will smoke a cigar. So what are you going to do? I’m interested in your thoughts.- S
