London and Somerset - October 2024

This one took a long time to produce as I was learning the tools! Apologies. The next one will be quicker to publishing!

This was my first long-distance trip - my first back to the UK - in over six years. It was an important trip for me to reconnect with my roots.

I flew to London by way of Singapore and Germany. Yes, a long journey with hours spent in airports but I didn’t really have a problem with the travel. I was quietly pleased about this!

I enjoyed wandering Changi - it really is something special. London was great. I explored a lot as I was getting myself familiar with the public transport. Some things that didn’t make it in to the video - the Warhammer store, London Dungeon (it was excellent), getting accosted by a gypsy woman who a) wanted money and b) wanted me to marry her as her soon-to-be-ex husband was in prison and I looked promising. A hard no from me but I’ll take the compliment.

London really does have a lot to offer.

Taking the train to Somerset was great. Yes, I do have a ‘thing’ for rail.

Several highlights - visiting the Roman Baths, visiting the Castle Gardens Christmas Display, visiting the cathedral and Bishop’s Palace & Gardens in Wells.

It was a wonderful trip. It is nice to get off the beaten track from time to time. Yes, I played tourist, but it was so great getting to connect with family and their community.
