Of Holidays (with a slice of Business)

Yeah baby!So I started 2011 with 7 weeks leave owing. With the very generous legislated four-weeks-per-year, I actually accrue as I struggle to use them up.So, tonight I fly out on another explore!I make an effort to visit a new country every year. I think it’s important to keep broadening my horizons and world experiences. Last year was Tokyo (loved, loved, loved it!!). This trip I’m off to Singapore, then to the UK and then to China.Singapore is going to be awesome. Three reasons, in no particular order.1) I shall misbehave with a former work colleague. For several days.2) the Funan technology centre, and3) The National Orchid Garden. What can I say? I am a little obsessed with orchids. The UK is going to be fun too. I’m meeting my birth mother and cousins for the second time since reconnecting. I can’t wait.China is the new experience. Will be seeing things I’ve dreamed about for years. Quite looking forward to being challenged by large intense crowds, heat and food that will look somewhat suspicious to my overtly white Auckland eyes. So, Social Media will be on the back foot for the next three weeks.I will attempt to blog/post/tweet/FB from time to time, but the main objective will be to relax. Knowing me though, I’ll be aware of business opportunities. I’m taking product samples to Singapore, will be meeting with a number of Music Industry retailers in London and I have suppliers and manufacturers to meet in China. Good times.*updatedI need to add some detail.1. It is simply ridiculous given our political and economic climate that ASB Bank does not trade CNY for travellers to China. Get up with the programme people. This is not rocket science.2. Yuan was obtained through a trader at 290 Queen St, Auckland. Take cash. Professional, English-Speaking and quick.3. I always travel with Panadol, Telfast and Imodium tablets. Please God, I don't want to have to use the Imodium. - S.
