Of Manflu
Well, this week has truly sucked.
I was out and about Monday all bouncy and me as usual. Then I woke up Tuesday morning with Manflu. Aargh! This is of course an incredibly serious affliction that is more often or not totally misunderstood.I can understand why the ladies mock us guys about Manflu, because they’re under the delusion that they suffer way more health-wise and cope with way more medically than we men ever could. I can accept that. Delusion is quite a wondrous place after all. Here's a link which will provide more detail on the seriousness of Manflu. However this bout of Manflu has been the worst I have ever had to deal with. I’ve even lost all interest in *cough* companionship... THAT’S how bad it is!!I thought I was coming right at the end of day two. My Tigger-Bounce was returning etc. That is until about 2am when I started coughing. For the next hour and a half. Then the random spontaneous sneezing began. And the fluids began cascading.Bleurgh.Nothing was working. The increase of Vitamin C. The meds. The chicken soup made with love and affection (thank you!!).On Thursday, I had to drive to Fieldays in this state. I probably shouldn’t have. But I had bought tickets in advance, and it’s a good opportunity to network and prospect. But seriously, day three of Manflu was all about irritation, frustration and anger, and a little dizziness. Made driving home a little interesting. So here I am on day four. I can’t remember the last time I was this unwell for this long. I absolutely hate it. I have too many things on the go to not be functional. I’ve had to cancel fun.I don’t like canceling fun.I now have new meds from behind the counter at the pharmacy. My drivers licence details were taken down (and the photo was laughed at). I’m feeling confident that I will beat this thing. It is time for joy to return.Updated: Monday June 20.I'm back at work. This would have been Day Seven. Fair to say, this was NOT manflu - something a little more serious. Serious enough that an actual, for-real, visit to the Doctors was on the agenda today. Now to catch up on all the work missed.- Simon
